European cities with a beach
Barcelona
In 1992 Barcelona hosted the Summer Olympics and this was a turning point for Barcelona’s coastal area with the redevelopment of the Port and beach area.
What was once a run down part of town is now a vibrant area with a long sandy beach, lively promenade and Port area with hotels, bars and restaurants.

The Hague
After a morning of sightseeing why not get onboard Tram 9 and head towards Scheveningen, The Hague’s seaside resort. The beach is a kilometre long and lined with beach bars. Take a stroll along the beach and if you’re looking for an adrenaline fix then you can do an organised bungee jump from the end of the Scheveningen Pier.

Paris Plages
Between July and August the banks of the River Seine transform into a seaside resort with man made beaches, deckchairs and palm trees. With live music, cafes and watersports there is everything you would expect at a beach resort.
Entry to the beaches is completely free meaning it does get crowded.
You can find the beaches on the right bank of the Seine, stretching from Pont Neuf to Pont d’Arsenal.
For watersports and swimming pools head to Bassin de la Villette.
